Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What specific things can you do to help me if I do begin attending counseling?
My goal is to ensure you feel safe, heard and valued for who you are. I will also help you set specific, realistic and attainable goals to overcome your current issue(s). I am as committed to the process as you are and will work with you until you see the results you were hoping for in your life. If I am working with your teenager it is essential that I develop a relationship with them and they feel accepted and know their confidentiality won't be violated unless in circumstances where I am ethically required to do so. Therefore, while you will be involved in the first session, the client will ultimately be left to decide what goals they want to work on in the long run.
  2. Who can you work with?
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and work with individuals in the state of Texas. This includes individuals who have anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, relationship issues, life adjustment issues, and a range of other problems.
  3. How long does counseling last?
There are some people who attend counseling for a short duration if their issue is temporary. Other people attend counseling for a longer duration to get to the root of deeper issues. It will be up to each client to decide as we create a treatment plan together.
  4. How will your initial consultation work for me?
You can tell me your story, your concerns, your current struggle. I am here to help. If we both agree that I can help you, or your child we can then set up your first appointment.
  5. Do you take insurance?
I currently take private pay, Aetna, Magellan, American Behavioral Health, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, and I take traditional and Superior Medicaid.
  6. What is your treatment approach to counseling?
I use Cognitive Based Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, Inner Family Systems Therapy Solution Focused Therapy and EMDR. I believe that the tools you need are inside of yourself and finding those tools unfolds in the process of therapy. We all have our own timeline to learning and changing and some people make significant changes in a short time, and others need more time. Either way, I do believe it's possible for people to change unhealthy or self-destructive patterns, while also accepting and loving yourself as your are, and as tough or challenging as it may be, if you are my client, I'm committed to walking through those challenges with you and reminding you that where you are is exactly where you need to be to get to the next level of your life.
